Children spend a lot of time in classrooms, and it’s estimated that the majority of this time is spent trying to comprehend their teachers’ and classmates’ speech. Environments where it is difficult to hear can lead to students becoming disconnected and struggling to focus. This in turn can impact their cognitive development, reduce learning out comes and cause behavioral issues. To this end, the acoustic environment is now regarded internationally as one of the prime considerations in the design of new classroom facilities.

Bildspec Operable Walls have an important part to play in providing an improved acoustic environment. Our acoustic moving walls are often used to assist the creation of innovative, high-quality learning environments for students. 

Unity Grammar School, Austral NSW, through builder Dynamic Projects, have recently installed 9 x Bildspec Series 100 Rw45 centre stacking operable walls with bottom mechanical retracting seals in order to create multiple, acoustically controlled spaces for dynamic learning. These innovative learning environments offer flexibility and adaptability where teachers/lecturers can provide opportunities for student engagement.

Mosca Pserras Architects specified these acoustic moving walls to have an Autex Composition 10 mm – colour Myst. Such face finishes used on the surface of each operable wall can improve the NRC (Noise Reduction Coefficient)/reverberation acoustic quality of the space through sound absorption.
