Victorian School Building Authority New Schools Program

Bildspec Operable walls have recently completed a rollout of operable wall installations for 5 Victorian Schools forming part of the Victorian School Building Authority New Schools building program. The head contractor for these works is Hutchinson Builders.

Bildspec was selected from many tenderers to provide for the acoustic operable wall requirements (as specified by project architect ARM Architecture) relating to the construction works at Lollypop Creek Primary School, Riverdale East Primary School, Tarneit Missen House Primary School, Warringa Special School and Rockbank Murray Road Primary School.

Operable acoustic walls were installed to learning facilities, administration buildings, staff lounges, school libraries, community hubs, gymnasiums and music rooms.

Bildspec’s selection for this prestigious project is testament to their product’s ability to provide high acoustic ratings which facilitate flexible learning spaces where children can learn in a quiet, yet robust, physical learning environments. This is achieved by greatly reducing external noise from passing into each classroom. Bildspec operable walls ensure that learning spaces are adaptable to accommodate small or large groups; including learning centres with flexible spaces that allow students to use technology in a variety of settings; and provide opportunities to enhance skills in collaboration, communication, critical thinking, problem solving and creativity.

Bildspec’s operable walls are also utilised in the “activity areas” of the school, including multi-purpose halls, music rooms, drama amphitheatres etc. Such custom folding doors enable easy and flexible separation of larger spaces into smaller social, activity-based and performance areas whilst preserving acoustic requirements.
